The perfect Sundowner: Russell’s Gin Cocktail

The perfect Sundowner: Russell’s Gin Cocktail

If you know Russell, you know he loves gin. His years spent in the UK and Europe have only deepened his appreciation for this classic spirit. Naturally, I’ve learned a thing or two about making gin cocktails myself. There was even a time when I myself would enjoy a Hendrick’s and tonic with a slice of citrus or cucumber. Since then, we’ve experimented with countless variations.

While living in Sydney, we discovered local gins made close to our home, and we quickly became regulars at the nearby distilleries. That’s where our love for the Australian-made gin “Archie Rose” began. Now, whenever friends visit us from Australia, our top request is always the same: bring us a bottle of Archie Rose.

This summer, to escape the intense Dubai heat, we’ve decided to spend time in the Caribbean. And what better way to enjoy a perfect sundowner here than with Russell’s famous gin cocktail? His special recipe features Archie Rose gin and a couple of unique home-grown ingredients, including his secret weapon: Angostura bitters. (Well, I guess it’s no longer a secret!)

We’re excited to share Russell’s refreshing gin cocktail recipe with you. It’s the perfect drink for any time of day and best of all, it tends to come with minimal hangover.

Russell's Signature Gin Cocktail

Ingredients:

• 50ml Archie Rose gin
• 150ml tonic water
• A few dashes of Angostura bitters
• Slice of cucumber or citrus for garnish

Instructions:

1. Fill a glass with ice.
2. Add 50ml of Archie Rose gin.
3. Top with 150ml of tonic water, we prefer using Fever tree elderflower tonic, Fentemans or Franklins.
4. Add a few dashes of Angostura bitters. (Secret 😉)
5. Garnish with a slice of citrus, cinnamon stick and 4 whole peppercorn grains.
6. Stir gently and enjoy!

I’ve tried it myself, and it’s incredibly refreshing—perfect for those warm summer days or any occasion that calls for a delightful drink.

Cheers to enjoying life’s simple moments!
